Kimberly - your writing speaks to the raw and honest truth within the hidden places in my experienced skin. Here is to a GRAND adventure and a lifetime of summers! Thank you. xx, Anna
As a mom of young twins about to move into my first home of my own, separate from my former partner, this was just the post I needed. Thank you for articulating all the things so beautifully. Here’s to being fearless!
All. Of. This. This couldn't have dropped in my inbox at a better time. I'm not even interested in the bare minimum of house maintenance, much less "projects." Does the toilet flush? Does the stove work? Cool, cool.
My kiddo is 10 and I'm feeling more freedom this year than ever before. But I'm also living week to week with ridiculous summer camp schedules so I can have a job.
"I’ve started to wonder if hobbies and house projects and all the little ant-like busywork we invent for ourselves isn’t just a way of avoiding facing up to what we wish our lives were actually like, what they could feel like. If it isn’t all just a way of forcing ourselves to feel rooted, like we owe it to our houses and yards to stay put." Love this immensely. Feel this. On the subject of things we are over, I am OVER hours of conversations at bbqs and parties and gatherings about house projects. I am over listening to others talk about their bathroom demo or the hours they're spending tearing up linoleum and redoing trim, as it that's what's at the core of our souls, as if those things make up a life.
